  5. A minimum two team members must be present on the day or face disqualification.
  6. If you are unable to compete in any given round then you will score zero points for that round as the only penalty. ** With the exception of any of the teams who had to miss out on round 1, if you missed this round and compete in round 2 you shall be awarded 100 bonus points.
  7. Every team must bring with them a homemade mystery ingredient which will be put into the draw for one of the other teams to use in their second drink.

Competition Rules

The teams will have to have to field 2 bartenders who can work together in preparing and presenting the 3 drinks.

The rounds consist of making three drinks and completing a quiz throughout the session.

The quiz will be based on bar-tending, product knowledge and history of the industry. This will run throughout the session and can be completed by all team members.

The drinks made are as follows;

  1. Prepared Drink – one drink prepared before the day with the one of the sponsored products for the session
  2. Mystery Bag – Each team picks one brand and one mystery ingredient from the selection the other teams have provided and has to make a drink in any style they like.
  3. Simple Serve – The competitor must use the last brand which has not already used to suggest a serve with a maximum of one mixer and one garnish.

Home-made ingredients are permitted but must be fully explained and easily replicated.

Competitors will have a maximum of ten minutes to complete all three drinks.

Judging

The judging will be carried out by three people every round consisting of a brand sponsor and two members of the SSPB.

They will be scoring competitors as follows;

A total of 50 points per competitor, per judge for all three drinks.

A total of 50 points for the quiz.

Anyone else present can take part in the quiz and the top 3 scorers will win a bottle courtesy of the sponsors.

All scores will be added throughout the four rounds and the top two from each city will go on to compete in the nationwide grand final.
